The stock Buell XB muffler is actually an engineering marvel due to the fact it performs quite well throughout the RPM range while meeting the requirements of very strict noise regulations. XB12 models even have the famous Active Muffler Control System that effectively changes the length of the exhaust system to match the engine RPMs and throttle position. To meet very strict design parameters, these mufflers ended up being very big, heavy, overly complex, and to many, UGLY. They also don’t provide the V-Twin sound so many Buell owners are fond of.
For the performance (and sound) minded, Buell produced a “Race Use Only” package that included a muffler, high flow air filter and matching ECM. Although this muffler is similar to the stock unit in size and shape, it is very different on the inside. In fact, the actual exhaust is simply a 2” long pipe with perforations on the end section, which is surrounded by a packing material for noise suppression. This pipe exits to a hollow chamber at the back of the muffler that has two outlets. Because this “race” muffler needed to fit into the same mounts as the stock unit, and be used as a jacking point it is still quite large and heavy. It’s also not a true “dual” system. This muffler does perform quite well and is often the standard by which the others are measured against. However, it is ultimately a very simple design housed in a seemingly complex package. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need a large muffler to get great performance. Also, these mufflers can be quite expensive, if you can find one.
The exhaust systems we offer follow the same proven and effective design principles of the original “Race” muffler while providing an unmatched combination of performance, looks, quality, sound and price. Just like the original “Race” muffler, these system allow the exhaust gasses to maintain a beneficially high exit velocity. This improves exhaust scavenging and also helps create a nice and throaty, not loud and raspy exhaust note. Even our least expensive system is significantly quieter than the most popular “name brand” models. Each one provides a dramatic reduction in weight, with gains in midrange (useable) torque and horsepower. Plus, each system includes a matched tune that can be loaded onto your ECM using a BUELLtooth ECM interface. No need to spend more money on a ECM or pay to have your bike tuned like the other manufactures expect you to do.
BUELLtooth XB-SS Slip-On Exhaust System
The XB-SS is our proprietary stainless steel Made in the USA system that provides the ultimate hot-rod v-twin sound, without the harshness and excessive volume that one might expect. Includes our own custom mandrel bent 16 gauge stainless steel elbow and mounting hardware. The ultimate XB bolt-on upgrade!
This Made in USA XB-ST system utilizes the famous Supertrapp muffler which allows for tuning of the sound and power-curve by adding or removing discs. Don't let the size of this stainless steel muffler fool you. It's extremely effective and reducing the sound volume without losing the throaty exhaust note that Buell owners love. Includes custom mandrel bent stainless steel elbow, all stainless steel mounting hardware and 12 diffuser discs.
Utilizing the same mandrel bent elbow as our other systems, this stainless steel diffuser disc style option performs and sounds just like the XB-ST kit. It even weighs almost exactly the same. However, it doesn't have the impeccable weld quality and overall fit and finish of the original unit it is based on. Includes 12 diffuser discs.
4" Diffuser disc for XB-ST and GT Exhaust Systems
BUELLtooth XB-SG Slip-On Exhaust System
Our XB-SG system sports a larger 4” diameter polished muffler with a 2” perforated core and 2.5” turnout. Even though it’s an all stainless steel system the price is just as amazing as it’s looks, sound and performance. You get a deeper tone than the XB-SS system, yet it’s easily tolerable at highway speeds. Of course you can make your presence known when you want to. Includes clamp, hanger and stainless steel mounting hardware.
Other Buell exhaust manufacturers expect you to pay for a tune or buy an ECM you don't need AFTER you've already spent hundreds of dollars on their kit! That doesn't seem right does it? The BUELLtooth philosophy is different; when you buy an exhaust for your bike it should run properly, without having to spend more money or do your own tuning. That's why a matching tune is included in the price! Simply install the file into your ECM using a BUELLtooth wireless interface and an Android device. They're not "off-the-shelf" tunes either. They are developed using Wideband sensor equipped motorcycles after numerous data logging and testing sessions. Nobody else develops and shares tunes for their Buell exhaust systems.
